In 1910, Lord Rawnsley, owner of the most important new paper in England, organises a unique competition: an air race from London to Paris. The impulse comes from of his daughter, Patricia, and her fiancé Richard Mays, passionate by aircraft. The shocking reward of 10 000£ for the winner attacks a dozen of pilots from all over the world. But the preparation for the race quickly turn into a competition between nationalities, each pilot representing the cliché of his country.
