Movie or TV Series Plot
Strange things happen all the time. Sometimes it may be due to the coincidences of life, other times it may be due to people making mistakes, committing sins, doing evil and good deeds. Or maybe the "heavens" are behind it all, threatening the apocalypse while giving new hope and perhaps a chance to start over. Magnolia tells the story of all this through nine stories that intertwine in a colourful mosaic, linked by a TV knowledge show. The protagonists are a dying father, a television producer, his young wife, a famous son teaching men how to seduce and destroy women, a boy with an incredible memory, a considerate nurse, a police officer longing for love, a man who was considered a genius as a child and is having a hard time coming to terms with his declining existence, a terminally ill TV contest host, and a lost daughter. Through a series of highly absurd coincidences, they and their loved ones are thrust into unexpected situations that change the course of their lives and lead them to the brink of hell and new hopes... All of the stories take place in one city and in one day, with the setting being Magnolia Street running east-west through the Los Angeles suburb of San Fernando Valley.
