Jessica2014

Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson) are spending the summer in Barcelona. The two are good friends, but they’re very different and in different places in life. Vicky—the practical one who follows the traditional mold—is engaged and has her life perfectly planned out. Cristina, on the other hand, is uncertain of her future and prefers not to fit into any traditional molds.

The girls meet Juan Antonia (Javier Bardem) at his art exhibition. He is a painter who has just ended a volatile relationship with his ex-wife (Penelope Cruz). Juan is immediately attracted to both girls, and invites them on his small plane for an outlandish weekend trip to Oviedo. Cristina jumps at the opportunity; Vicky is less excited, but they both agree to go on the trip.

Juan attempts to get both girls in bed, but Vicky refuses his advances. Cristina welcomes them, but becomes ill before anything happens. While she recovers, Juan and Vicky grow closer and closer, despite Cristina’s obvious attraction to him. Feeling guilty, Vicky backs down, and once Cristina is better again, she and Juan develop a deeper relationship.

As the summer continues, both woman struggle with what they truly want in life and the feelings they share for Juan Antonia.
