The nuclear tests in the Pacific have borne fruit. Godzilla, a mutated monster of gigantic proportions, has emerged from the depths of the ocean to turn New York and other world cities into piles of rubble. The United States military is helpless, and the rescue of humanity will ultimately rest on the shoulders of a young scientist named Nick Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick), who warned long ago of the emergence of such a monster, and a charismatic investigator named Philippe Roaché (Jean Reno). Time is running out, as Godzilla is not only destroying whatever comes its way, but it may be about to bring little Godzillas into the world.
