Florence has its own unique charm. No wonder so many English people have found a second home here. As well as several British ladies. But it's 1935, Mussolini takes over and soon what everyone fears happens: the English become enemies of the state and the ladies are deported to San Gimmignano prison. However, Elsa, a wealthy American, despised by the English ladies, secretly pays for their hotel. However, after America enters the war, she herself is in danger and needs help.
