Bruce (James McAvoy) used to be a good cop, but then something broke, probably the fact that his wife left him with his beloved daughter, and he became a cocaine-addled, venal, sleazy, promotion-hungry cop. When a group of teenagers beat a foreign tourist to death, his opportunity arises: will he solve the case despite mountains of cocaine, single-malt scotch and lots of women?
