He doesn't say much, but his facial expressions say it all: as an art expert, Dr.Bean is leaving for Los Angeles. There, the wealthy General Newton donates a famous painting by James Whistler to the Grierson Museum. As a delegate to London's "National Gallery of Art," Bean is tasked with negotiating the purchase of the multi-million-dollar work. His host, David Langley, puts him up in his home, which his wife and children judge after only a few minutes as not a very good idea... The story itself, however, plays only a minor role in the film _ the film is really a collection of short sketches, and the walking disaster in a tweed jacket accompanies us throughout the story.
