Rose lives with her father in a small village where her wedding is already being planned. But it is not her decision, so one day she runs away to the city and applies for a job as a secretary. Her entrance impresses insurance salesman Louis Echard, who soon learns how quick she is at typing. He begins to systematically prepare her for a typing competition, but as they spend more time together, he realizes that he doesn't just like her as a colleague.
