Movie or TV Series Plot

Kocourvbotach

The story of the orphaned Jane Eryr begins in the 1930s, when the girl is taken from her evil aunt's family, where she lived after her parents died, to a boarding school in Lowood. However, she doesn't help herself too much. At school, the girl has to endure all sorts of abuse from the governors, especially from old Miss Scatcherd.

Although the other girls are urged to stay away from Jane, Jane becomes close to Helen, who sleeps in the next bed. However, due to the negligence of the institution's management, Helen eventually succumbs to a serious illness. The adult Jane becomes a teacher, and after two years at Lowood, she leaves the hated school to take up a new position as governess at Thornfield Hall, where she is to care for a young orphan, Adela Varens. While getting acquainted with the house, Jane overhears a strange laugh, which the house keeper attributes to the maid Grace.

Months later, Jane witnesses an accident when a horse that has slipped on the ice knocks its rider off. Jane helps him to his feet, and in the evening learns that it is the owner of the estate, Edward Rochester, who only comes occasionally. The man compliments Jane on the quality of her care for Adela and makes no secret of his appreciation when he sees the paintings the woman paints in her spare time. At night, he hears strange laughter again and then notices a fire in Rochester's room. He wakes a drunken man who puts out the fire and asks Jane not to tell anyone about the laughter. The next day, the man goes to visit Lord Ingram, whose daughter Blanche is to be engaged to him. According to Adela, however, Blanche only wants to marry him for the money.

Jane realises that she has fallen in love with Rochester. She witnesses further strange events when Rochester's supposed friend Richard Mason appears at the house. He is wounded in the shoulder in the night under strange circumstances and Rochester, who blames him for his unannounced arrival, tries to get him out of the house as quickly as possible. When Jane receives a letter with news of her aunt's ill health, she takes time off work and goes to visit her. However, she must promise Rochester that she will return. The man seems to have found the same affection for her as she has for him. When he returns a month later, Rochester is about to be married, but he confesses his love to Jane, saying that he and Blanche are not in love.

He even asks her to marry him and she, despite the warden's warnings, accepts the proposal. However, the wedding ceremony is interrupted by the officiant, who reveals that Rochester is already married. Rochester decides to introduce his wife Bertha. The woman is mad and Rochester has never loved her. He was forced to marry her, and he did not see his wife for the first time until the wedding ceremony, fifteen years ago. Jane decides to leave Rochester despite the feelings she has for him. But that night, a bout of Bertha's madness dramatically marks the fate of Rochester and, indirectly, Jane.
